Microsoft has confirmed they are investigating the Teams presence issue (“Away” status). We’re monitoring for updates and will notify you once resolved. Next update by 13:00 BST today.

We are aware of an issue affecting Microsoft Teams where users’ status (presence) is incorrectly showing as “Away” regardless of actual activity. We have received multiple reports from users and can see widespread reports online indicating this is a broader Microsoft service issue. We are currently awaiting official confirmation from Microsoft and will update this page as soon as we have more information.
